Do you think that a Forester XT or Legacy GT would have cheaper insurance than a WRX?

I’m exploring some Subbies for my next car, I’m not going to be exploring high insurance though.

Yes, the Forester/Outback XT and Legacy GT are definitely cheaper to insure. Plus there’s the bonus of proper wagondom.

My Goodness, those wheels look great. Any idea what they are?

I was messing about on Google streetview, when this sexy thing caught my eye street parked in NYC.

Sorry, I have no idea what the wheels are. All I know is I need to paint my OBXT World Rally Blue

That’s all I know also, I highly suggest that you do that now.

What’s considered high insurance? I got full coverage and $500 deductible for 90/month with Progressive in NJ.

As I do to everyone looking at a WRX: why not a Saab 9-2x Aero?

It’s on my list. Thanks to model bloat and the gradual phase out of the manual transmission there’s really nothing newer out there that suits my needs and is more appealing than what I have now, so my plan is to hold onto it for a long time and use the money that would otherwise go toward a newer car to instead repair/upgrade/modify as I go along. WRB paint, window tint, a couple new tunes (already have an Accessport), Nameless exhaust, skid plate, upgraded springs (already did struts, though I might go crazy someday and give it an actual rally suspension), turbo/intercooler upgrade (eventually), possibly a light bar, possibly different wheels, maybe some rally mudflaps, etc etc.

You could call your insurance agent, they could give you a quote for a particular model and year if you have it narrowed down.

Wheels are factory Enkei that were on some JDM performance Subaru or another, not sure what model. Rota makes a replica called the Gravel.

Yes - definitely. WRXs are notoriously pricey to insure. Have you considered a white Ford Taurus? :)

I would assume that insurance for a LGT is cheaper than a WRX simply because the WRX has a bit of a reputation as a hoonmobile. Nobody expects a wagon, like the LGT, or a Forester to be quick even though they basically share the same drivetrain.

My sister ALMOST bought a Forester XT but decided on a non turbo model because long term running costs were cheaper. She got quotes for both and they were the same price to insure.

I just went to my insurers web site and plugged in the cars I was looking at and they provided a quote. Mazda RX-8 EXPENSIVE, Mazda 3-CHEAP.

Both my WRX and FXT were cheap. I actually pay more for my Abarth despite having half the hp and moving wheels as my WRX.

I was astonished how cheap it was to insure my new WRX. I’m 24 and live in the Chicago suburbs. With full coverage and a 1000$ deductible it is 500 for six months.

Yes on both counts.

It’s funny how I’m waiting until I’m 30 to get more powerful cars, mainly because I don’t want to deal with the damn insurance nonsense.

I found the Legacy GT to be the cheapest of the bunch. Which is why I bought one haha.
